Youth Soccer Equipment

The required equipment for playing soccer is specified in the Laws of the Game which is created by the association of football. When you sign up with the Toronto Azzurri soccer organization, your registration will include a regulation soccer ball, a soccer jersey, soccer shorts and socks. To play soccer you only need to have approved shin guards and a pair of soccer shoes. Soccer equipment is generally cheap, which makes it affordable for anyone to buy.

Eyeglasses

EyeGlasses are allowed if they are sports spectacles and are safe for the players themselves and for other players. Referees should show tolerance when authorizing their use, particularly for younger players. Materials such as metal or glass are not acceptable. In recreational and house league games referees are expected to show common sense and allow spectacles as long as the basic principals of Law 4 are met.

Youth Soccer Shoes and Cleats
Soccer shoes are especially designed for the sport of soccer and are refered to as cleats. Some have cleats and some are made for indoor soccer. Click here for more information on youth soccer cleats and shoes.

Youth Shin Guard
All soccer players, from utter novices to total experts, have to wear shin guards. It only makes sense in a sport whose primary method of locomoting the ball involves kicking it out from under your opponent’s (also kicking) leg! We’ve all banged a shin into a table at some point, and have hopped around in amazement that such an innocuous accident can be so painful.

As the Toronto Azzurri S.C. begins its second decade as your Community SoccerClub, we thought it appropriate offer you an update on our progress towards realizing our dream to build the Toronto Azzurri Village currently scheduled on the Steeles and Keele Reservoir site.

We began this project five years ago as we lobbied the City for the opportunity. We were granted five acres where the City built a Soccer Field with lights. We were also granted the space to create a 5,000 foot Clubhouse that we would have to fund and operate.

The project has taken longer then expected. Meantime ,we have forged important partnerships within the Community to help us stay on course - THE KICKS PROGRAM, run by Sgt. Steven Hicks at 31 Division, THE UNIVERSAL Youth Foundation led by Mario Cortelucci, The LIONS CLUB, LOCAL 506, THE Trilllium Foundation and CARWELL Construction. These strategic alliances will help our Club achieve our Vision to create a full service Community Functional Sport Club designed not only to teach soccer but to assist building character in our youth.

Toronto Azzurri takes this opportunity to thank all those who believe in the project and have or are contributing to our goal.

Our New Board of Directors have made “Project Azzurri Village” its top priority for 2010. We will be more visible in the Media, Community Papers and City Hall. Our goal is to break ground this year on the Construction of the Clubhouse. We will continue to deliver a strong Summer Soccer Development Program at York University and the Azzurri Sport Village. We will begin a NEW REP Program that will start up formally in 2011.

To our Soccer Families the Toronto Azzurri would like to say “Thank you”!
